Blood Donation Campaign

April 28, 2026

The power of youth – it gives, saves, and changes the world!
Donate blood—you too.
Give someone a chance at life.

The National Center for Transfusion Hematology, in partnership with the Bulgarian Red Cross, Medical University – Sofia, and SBALAG “Maichin Dom,” is organizing a blood donation campaign on May 12 and 13, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, in Room 121 at SBALAG “Maichin Dom”.

The truth is simple: blood has no substitute.
It comes only from people who choose to help.
If you are healthy, aged between 18 and 65, and weigh over 50 kg, you can be that person.

It doesn’t take much: have a light breakfast, drink fluids, and come along. Bring your ID card.
Everyone undergoes a brief medical screening on-site, and the NCTH team will take care of everything else.

When should you postpone?
If you feel unwell, have a cold or flu; if you have taken medication within the past 48 hours; after a medical procedure, tattoo, or piercing within the last 6 months; after staying in countries with a high risk of malaria or other transfusion-transmissible infections; as well as during menstruation, pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
For specific questions, you can consult our doctors at +359 2 9210 477.

Every day, somewhere, someone is waiting for their chance—during therapy, surgery, childbirth, or after an accident. Blood makes treatment possible. It has no substitute.

The actual blood donation takes about 10 minutes, and the entire process 30–40 minutes.
Just a short time… yet it can mean everything to someone.

All consumables used during blood donation are individual, sterile, and single-use. There is no risk of blood-borne infection.
Each donor receives two days of leave, a package of refreshments, and a personal code to access test results (HIV, hepatitis B and C, syphilis) via the NCTH website.

Sometimes the most meaningful things begin with a simple decision.

Come. Donate blood. Leave a mark.
