A charity football tournament organized by students of the Medical University – Sofia successfully combined sport, solidarity, and social responsibility in support of pediatric healthcare. The funds collected during the event were donated to the Children’s Hospital “Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev”.
 

In recognition of the initiative and the students’ active public engagement, the Director of the medical institution, Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, presented an official letter of appreciation along with a plaque of honor.

The 6-on-6 football tournament was held on Sunday, November 30, at the Sports Complex “Sofia 2000” and brought together students from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the Medical University – Sofia. A total of twelve teams consisting of 5 Bulgarian students and 5 international students in each team, from both faculties took part in the competition, demonstrating strong interfaculty collaboration and enthusiasm.

The event was organized by dental students Adam Amin and Basel Salah, with the support of Vice-Rector Prof. Deliverska, Vice-Dean Prof. Marinova, the Department of Language Education and Sports, and the Student Council of MU-Sofia - Zahari Iliev. Additional organizational support was provided by representatives of the Bulgarian Dental Students’ Association, Plamen Michev and Victoria Nikolova, whose involvement contributed to the successful coordination of the tournament.

Students from the MU-Sofia Humanitarian Society also played an important role in the initiative by actively supporting the fundraising efforts for the pediatric hospital. Among them were Yasmin Abdelsalam, Hasan Tufiq, Zainab Chaudry, and Aafreen Anwar Khan, whose dedication and engagement significantly contributed to the success of the charitable cause.

The tournament was dedicated entirely to supporting the Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev Children’s Hospital and served as a strong example of how sport can unite students around a meaningful social mission. The initiative reflects the values of empathy, teamwork, and civic responsibility that define the student community of the Medical University – Sofia.
