Department of Conservative Dentistry

In the department of Conservative Dentistry, students are taught in three disciplines - "Preclinics of Conservative Dentistry", "Clinics of Conservative Dentistry" and "Physiotherapy" (general and specialized).

The course in Conservative Dentistry provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnostics, treatment and prevention of carious and non-carious lesions of the hard dental tissues in adult patients. Endodontics provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnostics, treatment and prevention of pulp and periapical diseases.
The acquired competencies ensure the provision of dental care under European healthcare standards.
Upon completion of the course, students should know and be able to diagnose diseases of the hard dental tissues and the endodontium and their complications; to be able to recognize non-odontogenic findings and mimicking non-odontogenic diseases; to know how to operate with and use basic diagnostic and therapeutic equipment; to be able to create a concise treatment plan for patients with diseases of the hard dental tissues and the endodontium; to implement the best care and treatment available (including analgesia, isolation, cavity preparation, obturation with aesthetic/non-aesthetic restorative materials, root canal cleaning and resection, complex restorations of extensively damaged teeth) and do a long-term follow up of the results.

1. The course in "Preclinics Conservative Dentistry" is taught in three semesters - IV, V and VI, and includes 60 hours of lectures and 135 hours of practical exercises. 

2. The course in "Clinics Conservative Dentistry" is taught in four semesters - VII, VIII, IX and X, and includes 60 hours of lectures and 315 hours of practical exercises.

3. The course in "Physiotherapy (general and specialized)" provides knowledge and competencies in general characteristics, physiological and therapeutic effects of physical factors, indications and contraindications for their application, physiotherapy devices, diagnostic methods, treatment and prevention of dental diseases studied in all dental disciplines. These competencies are essential for the implementation of diagnostic activities and preventive dental care in physiotherapy departments and offices in compliance with European healthcare standards.
The course in "Physiotherapy (general and specialized)" is taught in one semester - IX and includes 15 hours of lectures and 15 hours of practical exercises.
