FORMS OF TEACHING AND EDUCATIONAL APPROACH
The basic forms of education in the course are lectures and practical training. The lectures provide contemporary theoretical knowledge to students and they are usually realized as multimedia presentations as well as educational films on various types of prosthetic treatment with fixed and removable restorations. Practical training is conducted in special well equipped clinical rooms where students work on typodonts first, and later they perform treatment on real patients. Academic professors and assistant professors supervise the training, devise treatment plans and control treatment stages.  The department of PDM has at its disposal a modern dental laboratory, used for the purposes of education - basically for casting fixed restorations, preparing study models, etc6. Contemporary CAD/CAM system and Center for Continuing Dental Education are a guarantee of advanced training on high professional level. Regular seminars and discussion on various topics of interest and clinical cases contribute to the assessment of students’ knowledge and developing their clinical thinking and decision making.

The curriculum of lectures and practice includes various methods for prosthetic treatment of masticatory system and restoration of function, esthetics and speech.
Students acquire specific knowledge and skills for treatment planning and effective prosthetic treatment aimed to restore occlusion and functional/mechanical equilibrium of the periodontal structures and masticatory system.

GOAL OF CURRICULUM
Acquiring knowledge on diagnosis of functional pathology of masticatory system with respect to tooth crown destruction, partial and complete edentulism, requiring prosthetic restoration.
Acquiring knowledge on prevention and treatment of oral pathology caused by occlusal imbalance and interferences.
Acquiring practical skills on prosthetic restoration of masticatory system using various types of fixed and removable prostheses with the main purpose to perform dental treatment in accordance with European standards of Healthcare.

TASKS OF THE PROGRAM
1. Acquiring knowledge on the classification and diagnosis of diseases in prosthetic dental medicine.

Enough knowledge and skills for comprehensive clinical approach and how to compose correct treatment plan that guarantees full prosthetic rehabilitation of the masticatory system.
Students should have knowledge and skills to properly diagnose and recognize functional pathology and make correct and efficient treatment of clinical cases with occlusal imbalance and interferences.

ASSESSMENT OF STUDENTS
- assessment of students’ theoretical knowledge during the course.
- assessment of practical work during the semester.
- test assessment at the end of semester.
- practical examination at the end of semester.
- theoretical examination session results.
