Centre of Dental Implantology

Centre of Dental Implantology, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University - Sofia

By Decision of the Academic Council of the Medical University - Sofia from July 30, 2024, Protocol No. 1, Regulations for the organization and activities of the Centre of Dental Implantology were adopted, along with the establishment as an auxiliary unit within the Faculty of Dental Medicine, which is directly subordinate to the Dean.

The Centre provides theoretical and practical training to students in both Bulgarian and English in the discipline Dental Implantology, which is taught in the eighth and ninth semesters - fourth and fifth year.  Lectures and practical classes are conducted by habilitated persons, assistants and instructors with a specialty in Dental Implantology or currently undergoing specialization in Dental Implantology. The teaching schedule is in accordance with the Curriculum, regulated by the regulations of MU - Sofia, PUDMUS. Practical and theoretical training is provided to postgraduate students to acquire the specialty of Dental implantology according to the specialty curriculum, as well as continuing education in the form of courses and individual training for individuals with a Master’s degree in Dental Medicine.

Academic staff of the Centre participate in intra-university and external scientific projects, conduct clinical and laboratory scientific research with the acquired equipment and other assets with the assistance of specialists and scientists in Dental Implantology.

The Head of the Centre of Dental Implantology is Prof. Bozhidar Yordanov, Deputy Head is Prof. Dimitar Filchev. The activities of the Centre are controlled by the Dean of the Faculty of Dental medicine, the Rector and the Academic Council of the Medical University - Sofia.
